Wendy Allen was born and raised on a small farm in Sonoma County, California. In High School, she started using a Hi-8 camera to make videos instead of writing essays for school assignments. After High School Wendy continued to explore her interest in video by doing a four-month editing internship in Sydney, Australia. With an increased interest in the timing and rhythm of movies Wendy attended UC Santa Cruz and studied film theory and video production.
After UCSC Wendy returned to Sonoma County and began working at Community Media Center, a public access TV station in Santa Rosa. There she taught camera, lighting, sound, editing, and animation classes regularly and ran youth camps during the summers. In addition, Wendy researched, wrote, shot and edited monthly human-interest shorts. Her work at CMC provided her with extensive experience in studio, field, and live productions.
In January of 2007, Wendy attended a 3D computer animation course at the New York Film Academy. Living amongst the constant activity of New York City solidified Wendy’s love for moving images.
Wendy is now living and working in the San Francisco Bay Area as a video artist and is always looking for challenging and interesting projects to get involved with.
